VN-Index approaches 1,150-point territory
The VN-Index, which represents the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), surged 10.95 points, or 0.96%, to 1,149.02 on Monday, with improved liquidity.
The main exchange saw more than 879 million shares changing hands for VND18.4 trillion ($778 million), up 11.5% from the previous session last Friday. There were up to 327 gainers and only 97 losers.
The VN30 index, which tracks the performance of 30 largest-cap stocks on the HoSE, gained 13.73 points to 1,143.16, with up to 23 tickers gaining and only four losing.

In the banking group, BID of BIDV made an impressive performance with an increase of 5.98%. Other gainers included VPB of VPBank 1.01%, STB of Sacombank 1.43%, ACB of Asia Commercial Bank 1.15%, MBB of MBBank 1.47%, and VIB of Vietnam International Bank 2.53%. However, VCB of Vietcombank dropped 2.19% after the previous strong gain.
Securities stocks rallied, with SSI of Saigon Securities up 3.97%, VCI of Viet Capital Securities 2.21%, FTS of FPT Securities 3.13%, and BSI of BIDV Securities 1.58%.
The green also overwhelmed real estate tickers. PDR of Phat Dat Real Estate Developing Corp hit its ceiling price; NVL of Novaland increased 2.76%, DIG of DIG Corp 2.88%, DXG of Dat Xanh Group 2.36%, DXS of Dat Xanh Services 2.07%, and CRE of Century Land 4.34%.
Energy, aviation and retail codes showed positive performance while manufacturing stocks saw a divergence.
Foreign investors were net sellers on the HoSE to the tune of only VND35 billion ($1.45 million), a sharp fall from VND1.35 trillion ($57 million) recorded in the Friday session. They mainly net sold banking stocks such as STB, CTG of VietinBank, VPB, and VCB.
The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse went up 2.55 points to 228.37, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market rose 0.57 points to 85.23.
