VN-Index slightly falls in week-ending session
The benchmark VN-Index on Friday lost 0.04 points, or 0.04%, to 1,077.14 on increasing selling pressure at the end of the session.
The index, which represents the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), saw over 563.8 million shares changing hands for nearly VND10.8 trillion ($460.55 million). There were 216 losers, 185 gainers and 69 going flat on the major bourse.
The blue chips showed their negative performance as the VN30 basket recorded 14 tickers rising and 16 declining.
Among the gainers were GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group, KDH of Khang Dien Holdings, NVL of Novaland Group, PLX of Petrolimex, POW of PV Power, SAB of brewer Sabeco, and VRE of Vincom Retail.
Meanwhile, BVH of Bao Viet Group, FPT of FPT Corp, GAS of PV Gas, HPG of steel maker Hoa Phat, MWG of Mobile World Investment Corp, VJC of Vietjet Air, and VNM of Vinamilk declined.
Red covered many major groups like banking and securities.
The highlight of the session came from the stocks of construction and building materials industries, with many hitting their ceiling prices like LCG of Lizen JSC and HHV of Deo Ca Traffic Infrastructure Investment JSC.
Cash also flowed into transport, seafood, retail and power groups, preventing the market from further dropping.
Foreign investors on Friday increased their net purchase of Vietnamese stocks to the tune of over VND530 billion ($22.6 million) on the HoSE, up nearly 19% from the previous session.
They mainly net bought HPG, STB of Sacombank, NVL, VCB of Vietcombank, and KBC of Kinh Bac City Development Holding Corporation.
The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse dropped 0.03 points to 215.28, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market went up 0.66 points to 75.54.
