VN-Index surges to exceed 1,000 points

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index gained 19.36 points Tuesday to close at 1,004.57, a 1.97% rise from the previous trading session.

The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), represented by the index, witnessed 331 tickers gaining and 86 decreasing.

Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of VND767 billion ($32.5 million), 1.72 times higher than Monday’s.

The VN30-Index of the VN-30 basket (the 30 largest capped stocks) gained almost 20 points to close at 1,007.36, up 1.98%.

In this basket, KHD, GVR, HPG, and SSI of property developer Khang Dien, Vietnam Rubber Group, industrial manufacturing corporation Hoa Phat Group, and securities broker SSI, respectively, obtained maximum increases.

VRE of Vincom Retail approached the ceiling price; PDR (Phat Dat Real Estate) and POW (PV Power) increased by more than 3% each.

In the banking group, VPB of VPBank increased by more than 4%; VIB of VIB bank; and BID of BIDV bank rose by more than 3%. Meanwhile, MBB, STB, TCB, CTG of MB Bank, Sacombank, Techcombank, and VietinBank, respectively went up more than 2%.

On the Hanoi Exchange, the HNX-Index increased by more than 2%, while the UPCOM-Index for the unlisted public companies market went up more than 1%.
