148,533 new firms established in Vietnam in 2022

A total 148,533 new firms were registered in Vietnam this year, up 27.13% year-on-year, with a total registered capital of VND1,591 trillion ($67.32 billion) and 981,332 employees.

Total registered capital fell 1.26% year-on-year but employment went up 14.91%, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Sectors with strong growth in terms of newly-established businesses were accommodation and restaurants with a 66.3% year-on-year increase, healthcare and social assistance with 65.5%, arts and entertainment with 65.5%, amid the country’s post-pandemic recovery.

In the year, 18,609 firms completed their dissolution procedures, 73,801 temporarily suspended activities, and 59,835 resumed business.

In total 208,368 players entered or re-entered the market this year, up 30.3% year-on-year.

In December, 10,769 new companies were registered with a total registered capital of VND107.17 trillion ($4.53 billion) and 72,362 staff. There were 1,761 firms completing dissolution procedures, 3,776 temporarily suspending activities, and 6,104 resuming operation in the month.
