Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) maker VinFast plans to open more than 50 stores in Germany, France and the Netherlands.

The reveal came at the European premiere of its VF 8 and VF 9 EVs at EVS35, the international electric vehicle symposium and exhibition in Oslo, Norway from June 11-15, 2022.

VinFast, a subsidiary of Vietnam's largest listed conglomerate Vingroup, said it plans to open at least 25 stores in Germany, 20 in France and five in the Netherlands.

The first confirmed German locations include Frankfurt, Berlin, Cologne, Oberhausen and Hamburg. In France, locations include Paris, Marseille, Nantes, Rennes, Nice, Montpellier, Aix-en-Provence and Metz. It is expected that Amsterdam would open the first VinFast store in the Netherlands.

Following an evaluation process that considered factors like existing infrastructure, locality and potential EV community, locations have been selected to optimize customer convenience. Stores will vary in size and offer sales-only or a comprehensive sales and servicing capability.

“Announcement of stores in the French, German and Dutch markets affirms VinFast’s commitment to Europe,” Le Thi Thu Thuy, Vingroup vice chairwoman and VinFast Global CEO, said in a release.

“We are confident that in addition to our reasonable pricing, product quality, innovative and flexible sales policies, our outstanding service will be the key factor to provide customers with excellent ownership experiences.”

VinFast had recently announced the pricing details of the VF 8 and VF 9 along with their battery subscription plans for the Dutch, German and French markets, which provide consumers a wide range of flexibility.

The firm is working with strategic partners in these markets to develop EV infrastructure and optimized customer solutions. The partnership with FCA Bank, announced in May, enables flexible and innovative financing to make premium EV ownership attainable for everyone. The announcement of European VinFast stores marks the next milestone in the company’s go-to-market strategy.

At EVS35 in Norway, the company announced new sales policies exclusive to European markets.

In terms of sales in the Vietnamese market, VinFast said it sold 3,050 cars this May, up 25.6% on April. The volume included 1,909 Fadil units, 425 Lux A2.0, 268 Lux SA2.0, and 448 VF e34 cars. This is the third consecutive month the number of electric cars VF e34 handed over to customers exceeded 400.

In the first five months of the year, VinFast’s total sales of 12,205 cars comprise 8,228 Fadil, 1,390 Lux A2.0, 1,228 Lux SA2.0, and 1,359 VF e34.
