Airport Construction Corp-led consortium wins $260 mln Long Thanh airport bidding package

The winning consortium comprises six companies: ACC, Truong Son Construction Corporation, Vinaconex (VCG), Development Investment Construction Corporation, Cienco4 Group JSC and Six Four Seven Aeronautics Project Construction JSC.
The winning bid was VND6.27 trillion ($255 million), lower than the offering price of VND6.37 trillion. The contract for the package will be executed in 23 months from the start of construction.
Biding package 4.7 includes the construction of aprons at the passenger terminal and other related works under Component 3 of the Long Thanh Airport Phase 1 project.
Two consortia competed for this package, but one of them, led by Deo Ca Group, was disqualified because a member – Hoang Long Construction Investment Corporation – did not meet technical requirements.
Although the Deo Ca consortium submitted a protest petition, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), investor of the Long Thanh Airport project, confirmed that the bidding process had been conducted in accordance with regulations and approved the bidding result.
Long Thanh International Airport, about 40 kilometers east of Ho Chi Minh City, is a mega project with a total investment of VND336.63 trillion ($14.12 billion) divided into three phases.
The first phase, worth VND110 trillion, will consist of a runway, terminal and auxiliary facilities that can serve 25 million passengers per year. The terminal is the largest package in the first phase.
Construction of the VND35 trillion ($1.49 billion) terminal commenced on August 31, 2023 and is set to be completed in 39 months. It will cover 150 hectares, featuring one basement, three floors, and 40 aprons.
In the second phase, the project will construct an additional runway and terminal to reach a capacity of 50 million passengers a year. The remaining items will be completed in the third phase to give the airport a capacity of 100 million visitors a year.
Once completed, the airport will be the country’s biggest, helping reduce overload at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.
The first commercial flight is expected to depart from Long Thanh International Airport on September 2, 2026, said former ACV chairman Lai Xuan Thanh.
Thanh retired on September 1. Vu The Phiet, CEO of ACV, was named chair of the company - the operator of 22 airports across the country.
