Aqua Vietnam extends investment in southern Vietnam
Aqua Vietnam has extended the operation of its manufacturing facilities in the southern Vietnam province of Dong Nai through 2045, committing additional investment of about $75 million.
Aqua Vietnam Co., Ltd. said provincial authorities in Dong Nai have approved the extension of its investment licences for factories located at the Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park.
Under its long-term development strategy, the company will increase both investment and production capacity to better serve domestic demand and expand exports.
It plans to raise the combined capacity of its three factories to nearly 1.6 million units per year, including 800,000 washing machines and 800,000 refrigerators, targeting markets across Asia and Europe.

The Aqua brand originated in Japan and entered Vietnam in 1996 under the name Sanyo Ha Asean. In 2011, China’s Haier Group acquired Sanyo Ha Asean, including its R&D center, factories, sales network, workforce of 7,000 people, 1,151 intellectual property rights, along with the Aqua brand - a prominent sub-brand of Sanyo in the washing machine sector.
Haier officially launched the Aqua brand in Japan in 2012, and in Vietnam in 2014, replacing the Sanyo name.
Aqua Vietnam’s complex at Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park covers 77,466 square meters and produces refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, freezers, televisions, and other household appliances.
The company also operates three sales offices, a network of around 6,000 retail outlets and 120 service stations nationwide, along with a workforce of 1,600 factory employees, 230 commercial staff, and 500 sales staff.
As of December 2025, Aqua Vietnam held the largest market share in Vietnam’s washing machine and refrigerator segments, the company said.
Looking ahead, the firm plans to prioritize manufacturing expansion, supply-chain development and localization rather than marketing-led growth.
It aims to raise localization rates to 75% in the medium term and ultimately reach full localization, from just over 50% currently (some product lines already close to 60%).
Over the next five years, the firm targets doubling output to about 2 million units annually and expanding exports to new markets, including the Americas and Africa, in addition to Asia and Europe.
CEO Fan Guofeng said extending the investment horizon to 2045 reflects the company’s long-term commitment to Vietnam, built around a strategy focused on user needs, continuous innovation, and durable quality, both in products and long-term market presence.
Haier Group currently owns seven global premium brands, including Haier, Casarte, GE Appliances, Fisher & Paykel, Aqua and Candy, and Hree Winged Bird – the world's first brand to offer comprehensive smart living solutions.
The corporation has also built more than 10 innovation ecosystems, operates 30 industrial parks, 122 manufacturing facilities, and nearly 230,000 retail outlets, serving more than 1 billion families in over 200 countries and territories.
