Berjaya Vietnam CEO nominated to Vincom Retail board of directors
Nguyen Hoai Nam, CEO of Berjaya Vietnam, subsidiary of Malaysian conglomerate Berjaya Corporation Berhad, has been nominated to the board of directors of Vincom Retail JSC for the 2023-2028 tenure.
The additional nomination is mentioned in an annual general meeting 2024 report released by Vingroup subsidiary Vincom Retail JSC, listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange as VRE.
Nam, 54, has been leading Berjaya Vietnam since 2006. He also serves as chairman of the board of directors for several firms including Nam Huong JSC, Saigonbank- Berjaya Securities JSC (HoSE: SBBS), and NP Business Investments JSC.
He is also part of the councils of members at Berjaya-Hotay JV, which owns Sheraton Hanoi Hotel; Berjaya-Handico12 Limited Company, and Berjaya-D2d Company Limited.
Earlier, on March 17, Vingroup approved the sale of a 100% stake in SDI Trading Development and Investment JSC, which owns Sado – the biggest shareholder in Vincom Retail with a 40.5% stake.
This year, Vincom Retail, the largest mall operator in the country, has targeted VND9.5 trillion ($383 million) in revenues and VND4.42 trillion in net profit, both slightly higher than its 2023 results.
It plans to launch six shopping malls this year, comprising two Vincom Mega Mall and four Vincom Plaza outlets, raising its national tally to 89 across 48 of 63 cities/provinces.
