Central Vietnam province accepts $120 mln investment from Taiwan lighting maker
Taiwanese backlight modules maker Radiant Opto-Electronics Corporation has received an investment certificate to pour $120 million into building a factory in the VSIP Nghe An Industrial Park.
Le Tien Tri, head of Dong Nam Nghe An Economic Zone Authority, confirmed the move to The Investor on Thursday. The project will manufacture electronic components including back light units (BLU), light guide plates (LGP), and brightness enhancement film (BEF), with an annual capacity of 35 million items per year in the first phase and 10 more million in the second phase.
The firm also plans to put 4.5 hectares of factory space up for lease, and set aside accommodation for workers and experts in VSIP Nghe An covering 1.4 hectares.

With the latest investment, Nghe An had attracted foreign direct investment (FDI) of $1.58 billion in the year to December 20, or the ninth-highest figure in the country.
Radiant Opto-Electronics, a partner of major tech firms including Apple, Foxconn, and LG, considers Nghe An in particular and Vietnam in general as an investment destination for sustainable and long-term operations over the next 30 years, the firm’s chairman Justin Wang said to provincial authorities last month.
