China’s state-run CCCC keen on railway, offshore wind projects in Vietnam
State-owned China Communications Construction Company, Ltd. (CCCC) is interested in joining railway and wind-to-power projects in Vietnam, a senior executive of the multinational company said Wednesday.
Wang Haihuai, CCCC executive director and president, told Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha at a meeting in Hanoi that his company was closely watching traffic infrastructure projects that link Vietnam and Chinese localities, the North-South high-speed railway project as well as metro lines in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Wang said his company was ready to develop nearshore and offshore wind power projects in Vietnam with cutting-edge technologies.
He noted CCCC has taken part in over 30 projects with combined contract value topping $3 billion in Vietnam, including seaports, nearshore wind power and industrial parks.
Welcoming the Chinese firm’s interest, Deputy PM Ha said the company should proactively study participating in infrastructure works of high priority in Vietnam, including the North-South high-speed railway project and three standard-gauge railway projects connecting Chinese localities with provinces and cities in northern Vietnam.
Stressing their urgency, Ha asked CCCC to work with Vietnamese partners and join consequential phases to boost infrastructure development in Vietnam.
Earlier, at a Monday meeting with Nguyen Hoang Anh, chairman of the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC), Wang said CCCC was keen on greater participation in urban infrastructure construction and energy projects in Vietnam.
Anh asked CCCC to share its expertise, train human resources and transfer technology as it worked with corporations and groups under the CMSC umbrella.
