CJ OliveNetworks, a provider of IT systems and services under South Korean chaebol CJ, will build the Vietnam factory of soju producer HiteJinro.

CJ OliveNetworks won a bid to build the factory to commemorate HiteJinro’s 100th anniversary, the firm said Thursday.

CJ OliveNetworks will carry out engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) procedures of the project, also a smart factory and HiteJinro's first overseas plant.

CJ OliveNetworks aims to complete the factory construction in 2026, with an annual output of one million cases, aiming to serve the Southeast Asian market.

In Vietnam, CJ OliveNetworks Vina provides information technology system management services and technology applications to companies under the CJ group, including food & beverage businesses.

In October 2023, local business Green i-Park Corporation, the investor of Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park in Vietnam's northern province of Thai Binh, and soju producer HiteJinro signed an in-principle land lease agreement.

Accordingly, HiteJinro planned to invest $100 million in the factory in the industrial park. The South Korean giant will lease 8.4 hectares of land there to build the drink factory.

HiteJinro is a combination of Jinro, South Korea’s first soju company founded in 1924, and Hite, South Korea’s first brewery founded in 1933. The firm established its Vietnamese unit in November 2015.
