Vietnamese private conglomerate Thaco Group has inaugurated a series of major projects, further expanding its industrial ecosystem in the central province of Quang Nam.

Specifically, Thilogi, Thaco’s logistics subsidiary, on Monday launched a new 50,000-DWT berth at Chu Lai International Port.

The berth extends the total length of the port by 365 meters to 836 meters and is designed to accommodate general cargo and container ships with capacities of up to 50,000 DWT, addressing the region’s growing export demand.

Meanwhile, Thaco Industries, a subsidiary specialized in mechanics and supporting industries, inaugurated a 30,000-square-meter research & development center with a total investment of nearly $40 million.

The center comprises a design hub, a material testing and product experimentation facility, a sample production workshop, and a multi-purpose hall.

The company also launched a $30 million factory for manufacturing auto body components, spanning 15,000 square meters. The facility has an annual production capacity of 50,000 sets of truck cabin stamping components, 5,000 bus body sets, 200,000 passenger car body sets, and 500,000 sets of other mechanical stamping components.

Another key project is a 15,000-square-meter auto glass plant, built at a cost of $25 million. The facility includes a passenger car glass production unit with an annual capacity of 300,000 sets and a truck-bus glass unit capable of producing 150,000 sets per year.

Furthermore, Thaco introduced a 20,000-square-meter automotive electrical equipment manufacturing plant, valued at $20 million. This facility is designed to produce 150,000 sets of electrical wiring and 50,000 sets of electronic components and equipment for passenger cars annually.

On the occasion, Thaco Auto, the automotive division of Thaco Group, exported 120 Kia Frontier vehicles to the Middle East, 400 Kia New Carnival body paint kits to India, and 45 Peugeot Django 150cc motorbikes to Cambodia.

In 2025, Thaco Industries aims to export 2,800 semi-trailers of various types to North America, 1.4 million spare parts to Asia, 50,000 civil equipment products to North America, 40,000 industrial equipment components to Australia, and 9,000 industrial equipment sets to Europe.

In Quang Nam, Thaco is focusing on large-scale projects, including a tariff-free zone project, Tam Hoa port, the expanded mechanical-automobile industrial park, a port-logistics-tariff-free zone complex, and others.
