Czech’s Skoda to make cars in Vietnam with kits imported from India
Skoda Auto is set to assemble vehicles in Vietnam later this quarter with knocked-down kits imported from India, the Czech Republic automaker said on Thursday.
In its 2024 performance review, Skoda said it has been making intensive preparations for the production of the Slavia and Kushaq models in Vietnam throughout 2024.
In Q1/2025, production of the Kushaq is scheduled to launch, the firm highlighted.

Vietnam, one of the most dynamic markets in ASEAN, will also serve as a gateway to other ASEAN countries, Skoda added.
Skoda chairman Klaus Zellmer last week commented that Vietnam boasts great potential to become an auto export and manufacturing hub of Skoda Auto, during a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
In 2022, Skoda Auto, the largest carmaker in the Czech Republic, and Vietnam’s Thanh Cong Group (TC Group) signed a deal to produce and distribute vehicles under the Skoda brand. In September 2023, fully imported Skoda models were officially launched in the Vietnamese market.
The two companies are building a $500 million manufacturing and assembly plant at the Viet Hung Industrial Park in Ha Long town, the northern province of Quang Ninh.
TC Group is well known as the producer of South Korean brand Hyundai vehicles in Vietnam.
