Da Nang welcomes first international flights in 2 years after fully reopened

Da Nang in central Vietnam on Sunday welcomed two first international flights in nearly two years due to the Covid-19 hiatus.

Flight SQ172 with nearly 160 passengers from Singapore landed in the city at 11:05 a.m as Singapore Airlines resumed its regular Singapore-Da Nang route. The frequency is one flight per day, specifically on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday mornings and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons.

At 12:30 p.m on the same day, flight VZ960 from Bangkok to Da Nang of Thai Vietjet landed in Da Nang with about 150 passengers. The route is operated with three flights per week, on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and can be revised up in line with market demand.

At the event of reopening international routes, Tran Phuoc Son, Vice Chairman of Da Nang, said the city aims to restore the routes operated in 2019 by 2023. “In June, Da Nang strives to successfully organise the 2022 Asia Route Development Forum, the most high-profile aviation event of Asia Pacific, to connect representatives of airports and airlines to the city.”

Other big events include the Ironman 70.3 international sport race in May 2022, a sailing competition in June, and an Asia golf tournament in September 2022.

Da Nang has attracted a large number of international tourists in recent years, growing an average 22% per year.
