DEEP C Industrial Zones in Hai Phong fully booked: executive
DEEP C Industrial Zones in the northern port city of Hai Phong will expand quickly as its current supply of industrial land at 1,840 hectares falls short of investor demand, said general director Bruno Jaspaert.
"DEEP C has 1,840 hectares of industrial land for lease, but the demand has rapidly risen to 2,000 hectares. This means we have to quicly expand to meet the demand," Jaspaert said at a seminar late last week on occasion of the zone's 25th anniversary.
The zone is applying sustainable development criteria set by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). DEEP C is one of five industrial parks that the Ministry of Planning and Investment and UNIDO selected to pilot transition to an eco industrial park.

The zone, including five industrial parks, is connected to Lach Huyen deep-water port, Cat Bi international airport, and an expressway system that forms the northern region's infrastructure backbone. It has attracted nearly 140 investment projects worth $5 billion.
Le Trung Kien, head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority, told the event that Hai Phong encourages investments with modern technology, high added value, spillover effects, and connections to global supply and production chains.
The coastal city is focusing on developing its traffic infrastructure, particularly modern seaport and logistics facilities, he added.
Hai Phong currently has 14 industrial parks covering 6,100 hectares and Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Economic Zone with an area of 22,540 hectares. So far, the city has lured 947 investments projects worth $23 billion.
