Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh has approved a plan to build the VND8,365 billion ($355 million) Dau Giay-Tan Phu expressway in southern Vietnam as a public-private partnership (PPP) project.

Private investors will contribute more than VND7,065 billion ($305 million) of the total investment, including loans.

The 60.3-kilometer road will be part of the 200-kilometer Dau Giay-Lien Khuong Expressway, connecting HCMC with the Central Highlands region.

The four-lane expressway will begin in Dau Giay township, Thong Nhat district, Dong Nai province where it intersects with National Highway 1 and meets the end of HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway. It will end in the province’s Phu Trung commune, Tan Phu district, intersecting with National Highway 20.

Once completed in 2025, the expressway will allow a maximum speed of 100 kph.

The government has assigned the Ministry of Transport to make a feasibility study for the project, the Ministry of Planning and Investment to allocate state capital and the People’s Committee of Dong Nai province to prepare the construction site.

Together with two other sections, Tan Phu-Bao Loc and Bao Loc-Lien Khuong, the Dau Giay-Tan Phu Expressway is expected to ease traffic congestion on National Highway 20 and promote socio-economic development in Dong Nai in particular and the southeastern region in general.

Dong Nai province, which neighbors HCMC, is a major manufacturing hub in southern Vietnam.
