Dutch firm studies $125 mln waste-to-energy project in southern Vietnam
Dutch waste management company Harvest Waste has signed an MoU with Tay Ninh's Department of Industry and Trade to study a waste-to-energy plant worth an estimated $125 million, as the southern province seeks to expand sustainable waste treatment and renewable energy capacity.
The MoU was signed on Tuesday during Tay Ninh's investment promotion conference in Amsterdam, organized jointly by the provincial People's Committee and the Vietnamese Embassy in the Netherlands to strengthen ties with Dutch businesses.

Under the proposal, the project would deploy European waste-to-energy technology, in line with Tay Ninh's strategy to promote sustainable development, the circular economy and green transition.
Tay Ninh sees significant potential for renewable energy, biomass power and circular economy projects linked to the agriculture and processing sectors, according to provincial officials.
They added that the project, if approved following feasibility studies and regulatory procedures, would help improve local waste treatment capacity while generating electricity from municipal waste.
Harvest Waste, headquartered in Amsterdam, also operates offices in Jakarta and Ho Chi Minh City, according to the company's website. The company says it develops waste-to-energy plants and integrated waste management systems that combine waste treatment, electricity generation and resource recovery.
However, authorities have not disclosed the specific technology to be used, the project's engineering and operating partners, or its technical specifications.
Tay Ninh strengthens connections with Dutch businesses
The agreement forms part of Tay Ninh's broader investment promotion mission in Europe aimed at attracting foreign investment in clean energy, green growth, the circular economy and high-tech agriculture.
Speaking at the conference, Tay Ninh's Party chief Nguyen Van Quyet said the province and the Netherlands shared complementary strengths in logistics, supply chain management, high-tech agriculture, circular economy initiatives and sustainable energy - areas that Tay Ninh is prioritizing in its next phase of development.
Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh People's Committee Huynh Van Son said the sectors attracting interest from Dutch investors aligned with the province's development strategy. He said local authorities would continue improving the investment climate, streamlining administrative procedures and supporting investors throughout project preparation and implementation.

Concurrently, the Dutch Business Association Vietnam and Tay Ninh's Department of Finance signed an MoU to strengthen business networking, information exchange and cooperation in investment promotion.
Dutch animal nutrition company Royal De Heus Group and Vietnam's Hung Nhon Group also agreed to expand their partnership in high-tech agriculture.
The De Heus-Hung Nhon partnership is currently developing 13 key projects in Tay Ninh with total planned investment of VND18.3 trillion ($695.82 million). The partnership aims to establish the province as a leading high-tech livestock production hub in Vietnam and the region.
Gabor Fluit, Global CEO of Royal De Heus, said the company would continue expanding investment in Tay Ninh with Hung Nhon, targeting annual production capacity of 200 million day-old chicks, 25 million broiler chickens and 10,000 pigs, with the integrated value chain expected to generate around $2 billion in annual revenue.
