Energy China seeks LNG investments in Vietnam
China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited (Energy China), one of the largest solution providers for the power industry in China, is eyeing to make investments in LNG-related power projects in Vietnam, says executive director Ni Zhen.
The executive made the statement at a Friday meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.
Energy China has experience in the energy sector, especially in financing, designing, construction, equipment manufacturing, and operation, Ni Zhen added.
In Vietnam, Energy China has invested and operated as the contractor of over 70 electricity projects worth over $9 billion.
The Chinese executive also suggested further cooperation in energy storage and power transmission.
In response, Deputy PM Bui Thanh Son hailed Energy China’s operation and its plan on expansion in Vietnam. Vietnam currently prioritizes foreign investments in energy, especially in capital attraction and technology transfer, he added.
Son suggested the Chinese side boost investment in wind power and pumped storage hydropower.
He also noted that Vietnam welcomes Chinese firms to invest in infrastructure, including expressways, railways, and high-speed railways.
