The first batch of 999 VF 8 electric vehicles manufactured by VinFast, the first Vietnamese EV producer, arrived in the U.S. on Tuesday as the vessel Silver Queen docked at the Port of Benicia in California.

The company has also received all the necessary certifications to sell the cars in the U.S., and will begin delivering these vehicles to customers by the end of this month, according to a VinFast release.

The vehicles, which arrived after 26 days at sea from Vietnam, are the VF 8 City Edition, a limited edition for the U.S. to enable direct customer experience of VinFast vehicles from 2022.

VF 8 City Edition owners will enjoy an industry-leading 10-year warranty for the vehicle, 10 years warranty for the battery (unlimited mileage), and 24/7 emergency roadside assistance during the warranty period.

Designed for regular daily commuters, the VF 8 City Edition's battery range has been recently certified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at 179 miles for the Eco and Plus models.

"Starting with this first delivery of 999 VF 8s City Edition, VinFast has made another giant step in its ongoing mission to bring all-electric transportation to everyone," said Le Thi Thu Thuy, vice chairwoman of Vingroup and CEO of VinFast Singapore.

VinFast, a subordinate company of Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate Vingroup, has received EPA COC to import and sell vehicles into the U.S. and additionally California Air Resources Board (CARB) EO to deliver vehicles to customers in California and states that have adopted CARB rules (14 other states and Washington D.C.).

Lastly, VinFast has also complied with all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) issued by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

On December 7, VinFast announced it had filed for an initial public offering in the U.S. where it plans to build a manufacturing complex in North Carolina while promoting sales in the global market.

VinFast intends to list its ordinary shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol VFS.

Citigroup Global Markets Inc., Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC, Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC and J.P. Morgan Securities LLC will act as lead book-running managers and as representatives of the underwriters for the proposed offering, the company said.
