Foreign investors extend net buying string on HCMC bourse
Foreign investors maintained a net buying position on Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange on Tuesday, the third session in a row.
The net selling was VND1,015 billion ($44.37 million), bringing the total figure in the last three days to $118 million.
They focused on buying stocks like DGC (Duc Giang Chemicals Group JSC with $13.51 million), MSN (Masan Group Corporation, $6.6 million), and GEX (Gelex Group, $4.9 million).
VN-Index gained right after market opening and at one point surpassed 1,513 points, but then reversed when the selling pressure increased.
The index closed the session at 1,502.34, down 1.44 points, with 260 losers and 192 gainers.
Among VN30 stocks, GAS led the way down, dropping 2.4%, followed by 21 others such as PNJ (-1.8%), PLX (-1.4%), and TPB, PDR and HDB (all -1.1%). VND30 reflects 30 leading bluechips. Only three were significant gainers, POW (2.4%), SAB (2.3%), and GVR (2.2%).
HNX-Index of Hanoi Stock Exchange rose 0.75 points (0.16%) to 462.1, while UPCoM-Index of the Unlisted Public Company Market decreased 0.22 points (0.19%) to reach 116.58.
In total, there were 494 gainers, of which 51 hit the regulated ceiling price, and 550 losers, with total liquidity of $1.48 billion.
In a reverse direction to the overall market, fertilizer and chemical stocks had the most positive influence on VN-Index, with a contribution of more than 1.8 points. Among these, BFC (Binh Dien Fertilizer JSC) and VAF (Van Dien Fused Magnesium Phosphate Fertilizer JSC) ended the session in the ceiling purple color, apart strong gainers SFG, DPM, and DGC.
The seafood group recorded a positive gain with ASM hitting the limit, ACL (+2.8%), ANV (+2.5%), FMC (+1%). Insurance stocks also prospered with MIG (+6.2%), BIC (+4.4%), and BMI (+1.2%).
Meanwhile, red color overwhelmed real estate, construction and banking stocks, but the fluctuation is only around 1%.
Petroleum stocks were under strong selling pressure after Tuesday’s excitement session, with PVC down 4.6%, PXS (-3%), PVT (-2.5%), GAS (- 2.4%), OIL (-2.1%), and PVS (-2%).
