Foreign investors’ buy-in decisions and strong purchasing power helped the benchmark VN-Index, which represents the HoSE, gain 6.77 points, or 0.65%, to close at 1,055.95.

The main bourse saw more than 609 million shares changing hands for over VND10.7 trillion ($451.47 million), an increase of nearly VND2.2 trillion from the previous session. There were 271 gainers and 118 losers.

The VN30 index, which tracks the performance of 30 largest-cap stocks, went up 9.69 points to 1,050.28, with 19 rising and five declining.

The aviation and tourism groups became the focus of attention with a series of tickers hitting their ceiling prices, including HVN of national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, RIC of Royal International Corp, VTD of Vietourist JSC, DAH of Dong A Hotel Group, and VNG of Thanh Thanh Cong Tourist JSC.

Their positive performance was attributed to information about the Chinese government’s decision to include Vietnam in the list of countries for pilot tourism reopening from March 15.

Green also covered banking, real estate, construction and building material groups.

The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse went up 0.35 points to 209.03, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market rose 0.11 points to close at 76.60.
