Foreign investors net purchase $129 mln in 4 consecutive sessions
Foreign investors were net buyers to the tone of VND3,000 billion ($129.3 million) on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE) in the last four consecutive sessions, including $30.8 million on Wednesday.
The market started the first session in June with low liquidity while Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index fluctuated around the reference mark.
Selling force expanded in many groups of stocks, forcing the indexes to decline by the end of the morning, particularly in real estate and steel. The main index fell roughly 7 points in the afternoon before rebounding due to the rallies of major stocks.
The VN30 basket, comprised of the 30 largest stocks by market cap and liquidity on the HoSE, was split with 14 gainers and 15 losers.
Leading the uptrend was POW (PV Power) with a margin of 3%. In the opposite direction, ACB (Asia Commercial Bank) was the biggest loser.
VN30-Index closed the session at 1,299.52, down 6.84 points. Liquidity reached VND16,049 billion ($691.7 million), accounting for 39% of HoSE liquidity.
Small and medium stocks also performed well, with VNSmallCap and VNMidcap up by 0.37% and 0.18% respectively.
VN-Index closed Wednesday at 1,299.52, up 6.84 points, with 175 gaining (13 stocks hit the price ceiling) and 275 losing. Meanwhile, HNX-Index fell by 0.39 points (0.12%) to 315.37, while UpCoM-Index dropped by 0.35 points (0.37%) to 95.1.
On the three exchanges, 392 stocks were gainers and 536 losers, with total liquidity reaching VND18,898 billion ($814.7 million), down 3% from Tuesday’s session.
Several groups like securities, banks, real estate, and materials simultaneously became less appealing due to strong selling pressure.
Champions on Wednesday were seafood with a series of stocks reaching the ceiling price like VHC, IDI, ACL, CMX, and ANV, along with other gainers like FMC, ASM, and ABT.
Oil and gas recorded the third bullish trading session with numerous winners, including BSR, PVT, PVS, PVD, GAS, OIL, and PVC.
In the fourth foreign investor net purchasing session, buying force focused on DGC (Duc Giang Chemicals), VHM (Vinhomes), and DPM (Petrovietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals).
