Former Hanoi Police deputy chief expelled from Communist Party
Major General Nguyen Anh Tuan, former deputy chief of the Hanoi Police, has been expelled from the Communist Party.
The Central Inspection Committee on Thursday also issued a warning to Nguyen Khac Hien, former director of the city's Department of Health, and proposed the Party Central Committee's Secretary take disciplinary action against Chu Xuan Dung, vice chairman of Hanoi's People's Committee.

The Central Inspection Committee determined that the city's People's Committee's Party leaders had violated the principle of democratic centralism and working regulations, displayed a lack of responsibility, and shown loose leadership and direction.
As a result, the People's Committee and a number of organizations and individuals had violated Party regulations and State laws in the procurement, management and use of biological products, chemicals, medical supplies and equipment as well as repatriating Vietnamese citizens during the Covid-19 pandemic.
These violations and shortcomings broke Party and State guidelines, risked a great loss to the state budget, angered the public, and undermined the reputation of the city's Party Committee and administration.
Previously, on December 22, Chu Xuan Dung, Hanoi's vice chairman, was arrested for further investigation into allegedly taking bribes in the pandemic repatriation flight scam.
