Hoa Cong Hau, former director of Tay Ninh province's Department of Health, has been prosecuted for violations in bidding activities.

Hau, 60, and Le Thanh Lu, 56, former deputy head of the department's finance and planning division, were prosecuted for "violations of regulations on bidding, causing serious consequences," the Ministry of Public Security’s investigative agency stated on Tuesday.

On the same charge, the agency prosecuted Nguyen Phuoc Thien, former CEO of Saigon South Investment and Consulting JSC; Bach Thi Dieu Hien, an employee at NG Company; Hoang Thi Thuy Nga, chairwoman of NSJ Group's founding board and four other company employees.

Though the investigative agency did not specify their violations, they stand accused of "having violated regulations on ensuring fairness and transparency in bidding activities, causing serious consequences to state property".

Hau was director of Tay Ninh's Department of Health from December 2015 to December 2020, when he retired.

The above prosecutions are part of an investigation by the Ministry of Public Security and local police into violations in bidding activities at municipal and provincial health departments across the country.

Most recently, the investigative agency arrested Phan Huy Anh Vu, director of Dong Nai province's Department of Health, on charges of violations related to Advanced International Joint Stock Company (AIC) in a medical equipment bidding scam.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan, chairwoman of AIC, is wanted for further investigation over the scam at Dong Nai General Hospital.
