Leading Vietnamese IT service provider FPT Software has opened a nearshore development center in Nanning, China’s Guangxi province to better serve the billion-people market, especially in the automotive industry.

The center, FPT Software’s 65th office globally, is expected to help the firm make further inroads into the Chinese auto sector.

The new facility is close to many top universities, spanning many majors from business and technology to social studies, said the company, a subsidiary of FPT Group.

Nanning, capital of Guangxi, is about 80 kilometers from Hanoi, where FPT Software is headquartered.

“With the new nearshore development center in Nanning, we aim to enhance our competencies in the automotive, manufacturing, and other industries. We will be able to bridge language barriers and time zone differences to have more in-person engagement with our clients,” said FPT Software chairwoman Chu Thi Thanh Ha.

“I hope the development center will become the new growth engine for FPT Software in China.”

Also as part of the firm’s expansion strategy, FPT Software acquired the U.S.-headquartered Intertec International's IT Services division this February in a move to further strengthen its North American nearshore delivery capabilities. FPT Software started investing in the U.S. company in 2021.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Friday paid a working visit to an FPT Software hub and FPT University campus inside Hoa Lac High-Tech Park in Hanoi.

FPT Group, the parent company of FPT Software, is a leader in digital transformation in Vietnam, the PM said, adding that FPT and other major Vietnamese IT corporations have put Vietnam onto the world IT map.
