Ha Giang official arrested for mining bribe
Dang Van Thuy, deputy director of Ha Giang province’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment, was arrested Tuesday on charges of taking bribes in an ore mining scam.
Thuy, 52, will be detained for five months for further investigation into his alleged crime of “receiving bribes”. The amount involved has yet to be announced.

This is part of a probe by Ha Giang police into illegal ore mining in Ban Buot village, Dong Tam commune, Bac Quang district.
Early last year, five people were prosecuted for violating state regulations on exploration and exploitation of natural resources under Article 227 of the Penal Code.
Initial investigation results showed that in October 2021, Thuy, then deputy director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, signed papers to invite representatives of relevant agencies to conduct an inspection trip to the Dong Tam mine.
Thuy was later accused of delaying the inspection trip after receiving money from Le Kha Chau, deputy director of Son Lam Company Ltd.
In April this year, Chau was detained for violating state regulations on exploitation of natural resources after police discovered his company had illegally mined ore.
