HCMC bourse trading value hits 27-month low
Trading value on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) hit only VND6.54 trillion ($274.96 million) on Friday, down 45% from the previous session and the lowest level since mid-November 2020.
The VN-Index, which tracks the performance of the HoSE, dropped 14.1 points, or 1.34%, to 1,039.56, with up to 311 losers and only 98 gainers.
The major index closed the trading week of February 20-24 with four out of five sessions declining, completely erasing the achievement of the week-opening session rally. It lost nearly 20 points or 1.86% compared to the previous week.

Blue chips had the most negative impact on the market as the VN30 index, which features 30 largest-cap stocks, plunged 20.53 points, or 1.95%, to 1,030.42.
Among the 26 losers, SSI of Saigon Securities, NVL of real estate developer Novaland, HPG of steel giant Hoa Phat, PDR of Phat Dat Real Estate Development Corp, ACB of Asia Commercial Bank, and HDB of HDBank suffer a decline of over 3%.
VHM of Vinhomes went down 2.4%, BID of BIDV bank 2.1%, VIC of Vingroup 0.2%, and CTG of VietinBank 2.6%.
The securities stocks experienced a sharp fall of 3.33%, with VND of VNDirect, SHS of Saigon-Hanoi Securities, SSI of Saigon Securities, HCM of Ho Chi Minh City Securities, and VCI of Viet Capital Securities losing 3.2-5%.
Red also overwhelmed the groups of banking, steel, construction and real estate.
Meanwhile, the aviation, construction material and water groups made impressions with many tickers gaining like HVN of national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (5.3%), NCS of Noi Bai Catering Services JSC (4.1%), VLB of Bien Hoa Building Materials Production and Construction JSC (5%), and DNW of Dong Nai Water JSC (5.7%).
Foreign investors continued to be net sellers to the eighth consecutive session to the tune of over VND219 billion ($9.2 million) on the HoSE, nearly one third of the previous session’s figure.
They mainly net sold VHM, VIC, DGC of Duc Giang Chemicals Corp, DCM of Petrovietnam Ca Mau Fertilizer JSC, and VNM of Vinamilk.
The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse dropped 1.99 points to 207.32, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market lost 0.67 points to close at 76.73.
