HCMC bourse trading value hits one-month low

The trading value on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) on Monday plunged 40% from Friday to more than VND8 trillion ($341 million), the lowest in nearly a month.

The cash flow ran into some tickers in the animal husbandry, construction and real estate groups.

The benchmark VN-Index, representing the HoSE, inched up 0.92 points, or 0.09%, to 1,053.81, with nearly 454 million shares changing hands. The major bourse saw 170 gainers and 202 losers.

The VN30 index, which tracks the performance of the 30 largest-cap stocks, rose 1.59 points to 1,065.02.

Among the blue chips, 14 closed in green while 12 declined. NVL and PDR of real estate developer Novaland and Phat Dat both increased around 4%, with a trading volume of 16.8 million and 7 million shares, respectively.

POW of PV Power and TCB of Techcombank gained nearly 2%, and BID of BIDV bank, VJC of Vietjet Air, and HPG of steel maker Hoa Phat expanded over 1%. In contrast, SAB of brewer Sabeco and BVH of Bao Viet Holding lost nearly 2%, and VNM of Vinamilk dropped 1.5%.

In the mid-cap group, DBC of Dabaco hit its ceiling price, CTD of Coteccons Construction JSC increased 4.7%, while HAG of Hoang Anh Gia Lai JSC and GIL of Binh Thanh Import - Export Production & Trade JSC gained over 6%.

Foreign investors remained net sellers on the HoSE for the eighth consecutive session to the tune of over VND11 billion ($468,300), down 89.75% from the previous session, April 14.

STB of Sacombank was most net sold with a value of VND35.7 billion ($1.52 million), followed by HPG and DXG of Dat Xanh Group.

The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse fell 0.62 points to 206.63, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market fell 0.31 points to 78.38.
