A new high-class golf resort was inaugurated on Saturday in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, home to the Imperial Citadel of Hue, a UNESCO-recognized heritage site.

The Golden Sands Golf Resort is located in Vinh Xuan and Vinh Thanh communes, near one of the province’s most beautiful beaches and only 20 km east of Hue town.

The resort is a new premium tourism product of Thua Thien-Hue, apart from its world-famous cultural heritage tourism offerings, and a top golf destination in central Vietnam.

The golf course stretches 7,519 yards (nearly 6.9 kilometers) from the farthest tee and is touted as “the toughest golf challenge in Vietnam,” which requires golfers to use at least 10 more strokes compared to any other course in Vietnam.

Nguyen Thi Nga, chairwoman of BRG Group - the developer, stated that Golden Sands Golf Resort would provide Thua Thien-Hue and the central coastal region with a new international-class golf destination, attracting more domestic and international tourists, especially high-spending golf travelers.

“With this new premium tourism product, many visitors to the province might extend their stay,” she said.

Phan Quy Phuong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, noted that investing in infrastructure and developing golf tourism products are a right strategy which aligns with provincial priorities to develop the tourism and service sectors.

In the first six months of 2024, the number of visitors to Thua Thien-Hue exceeded 1.95 million, up 24.7% year-on-year. Among them, international visitors reached 821,290, up over 42.6%.
