Hue 'horror park' to welcome tourists next year
The Hue People's Committee plans to restore outdoor entertainment activities including camping at the abandoned Thuy Tien Lake Park, also known as “horror park,” next March.

Vo Le Nhat, chairman of Hue town People's Committee, has directed Hue Green Park Center to clean the landscape and renovate its infrastructure.
Earlier, the Hue People's Council had approved a two-year renovation of the Thuy Tien Lake Park with a total investment of VND20 billion ($805,000). The renovation would include, among other things, construction of a promenade around the lake, road upgrades and installation of lighting, water supply and drainage systems.

The Thuy Tien Lake Park is located on Thien An Pine Hill in Thuy Bang commune, about 10 kilometers southwest of downtown Hue. The hill used to be a romantic place for generations of students to go camping.
The park began operations in 2004, but was closed after six months and abandoned. It therefore fell into a dilapidated condition. Its abandoned, deserted and “haunted” ambience found popularity among international tourists and the online community.

In 2016, the U.S newspaper Huffington Post published an article about the park titled: “Abandoned water park is not for timid hearts.”
In 2020, the U.S newspaper Insider included it in the list of abandoned water parks whose mysterious looks attracted tourists. The park was also featured in a video produced by an Italian music group.
