Industrial park, mall worth $262 mln to take shape in Thua Thien-Hue
Construction on two major projects, namely the VND2,600 billion ($105 million) Gilimex Industrial Park and a VND3,916 billion Aeon mall, is set to commence in Thua Thien-Hue province in November and December this year, respectively.

Construction of the 460.9-hectare Gilimex Industrial Park within Phu Bai Industrial Park in Huong Thuy township is slated for November 11, said Tran Huu Thuy Giang, head of the provincial People’s Committee office.
The facility, invested by Gilimex Industrial Park Corporation, was approved by the provincial authorities last year, with a duration of 50 years. At the time, the central province also approved two other industrial park projects, namely phase 4 of Phu Bai Industrial Park and phase 1 of Tu Ha Industrial Park.
Aeon Mall Hue, with an investment of VND3,916 billion ($157.5 million), is set to begin construction in December. The 86,216-square-meter mall, located in Hue town's An Van Duong new urban area, is invested by Hanoi-based Newland Invest., JSC and was also approved by Thua Thien-Hue last year.
Aeon plans to build and operate 16 malls in Vietnam in 2025, Aeon Mall Vietnam CEO Nakagawa Tetsuyuki told Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi in a July meeting.
Thua Thien-Hue’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rose 7.72% year-on-year in the first 10 months of the year, official data shows, with the manufacturing and processing sector growing 5%.
The province's total retail revenue reached VND33,298 billion ($1.34 billion) in the period, up 11.4%.
