Investors keen on two central Vietnam wind power projects worth $9.4 bln
Domestic and foreign enterprises have evinced investment interest in dozens of projects in the central coastal province of Binh Dinh, including two wind power projects worth a combined $9.4 billion.
The Saigon-Nhonhoi Industrial Park Corporation (SNP) and STS Development plan to jointly invest in onshore, near shore and offshore wind power farms with a combined output of 2,000 megawatts and an estimated cost of $4.8 billion.
Meanwhile, German renewable energy company PNE AG is seeking to invest $4.6 billion in an offshore wind farm in the province’s Phu My district.

These are two of 23 memoranda of understanding signed at a ceremony held in the province Saturday. Of these, 16 are in the manufacturing sector and the other seven cover trade, service and tourism.
Other notable potential projects include a VND21.7 trillion ($893 million) paper mill with Mekong Investment Holdings JSC as the investor; and a hydrogen and port compound as well as an industrial park worth VND21 trillion ($864 million) with Huong Viet Investment Consultant Corporation as the investor.
A Him Lam Group subsidiary and Xuan Cau Holdings plan to invest in two golf courses separately, each worth VND12 trillion (494 million).
The U.S.’s KING RIDGE MARK, STS Development and SNP plan to jointly develop a hospitality township worth VND11.2 trillion ($460 million).
Also Saturday, Binh Dinh authorities granted investment licenses and green lights to 22 other projects worth a combined VND12.71 trillion ($523 million).
These include 12 manufacturing and processing projects with a total investment of VND4.08 trillion ($168 million) and 10 residential and industrial real estate projects worth a combined VND8.63 trillion ($355 million).
Among these are a $40.3-million wood processing plant by Tekcom Central JSC; a $37-million high-tech shrimp farm by Thong Thuan Co.; a $31.4-million factory by the Netherlands’ vidaXL Group B.V Company to manufacture wood and metal products and mattresses; and four industrial parks.
