Japanese retailer Aeon sees high demand for Vietnamese agricultural products, processed foods
There is high demand for Vietnamese agricultural products and processed foods at Aeon supermarket chains in China, Japan, Thailand and Malaysia, said Yuichiro Shiotani, CEO of Aeon Topvalu Vietnam.
In a working session held earlier this month with officials of the European-American Market Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), Shiotani said he was urging representatives from the overseas outlets to attend the Vietnam International Sourcing 2024 event held June 6-8 in Ho Chi Minh City.
He noted that the previous edition of the event in 2023 was a great success, according to a Tuesday release from the MoIT.
The Japanese retail giant will also work with the MoIT for organizing the Vietnamese Goods Week in Japan later this year, Shiotani said.

Together, the two events will help Vietnamese goods increase their access to Asia's most demanding markets, he added.
Shiotani also said that at both events, AEON intended to identify Vietnamese suppliers of agricultural products (both fresh and dry), frozen goods groups, and processed foods that are capable of meeting the group's stringent standards to become sustainable partners, not only in Vietnam, but across its global chain.
