Japan-headquartered Meiko Electronics aims to start operating its $100-million print circuit board (PCB) factory in Vietnam from the second quarter of 2025, according to a project report.
In April, Meiko Electronics broke ground on its factory in Vietnam’s northern province of Hoa Binh, covering 1.2 hectares. Then, in July, the firm received the fourth adjustment to its investment registration certificate, enlarging the project area to 9.3 hectares in Bo Trai Song Da Industrial Park.

According to the latest certificate, the firm strives to finish construction of the office and factory parts by Q3/2024, install equipment in Q3/2024-Q4/2024, recruit and train staff in Q1/2025, and enter official operation from Q2/2025. It also plans to start factory leasing activities in Q4/2028.
The project has an annual capacity of designing 14,500 print circuit boards (PCB), equivalent to $15 million, and manufacturing-assembling PCBs and electronic items of 80,000 square meters, equivalent to 135 tons. The project is set to recruit 100 workers during construction and 650 during operation.
During Meiko's groundbreaking ceremony in April, the firm said the total investment would be raised to $500 million when work on a second factory starts. The factories will produce electronic circuits for peripheral devices, computers, electronic home appliances, audio-visual equipment, solar cells, microprocessor chips, and controllers.
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked Meiko for its investments in Vietnam, which have amounted to over $1 billion over the past two decades. He also asked Hoa Binh province authorities to facilitate more high-tech investments.
