Japan’s Shizuoka Gas to acquire 25% stake in 50MW solar power plant in Vietnam

Japan’s Shizuoka Gas will acquire a 25% stake of My Son-Hoan Loc Viet Solar Energy JSC, the owner of 50-MW My Son-Hoan Loc Viet solar power plant in Vietnam’s central province of Ninh Thuan.

In a Monday statement, Shizuoka said it has reached a final agreement for the move with Hoan Loc Viet Joint Stock Company, the parent company of of My Son-Hoan Loc Viet Solar Energy JSC.

The agreement remarked Shizuoka Gas’s entrance to the Vietnamese market, including the solar power segment.

Shizuoka also highlighted Vietnam’s growing demand for electricity, especially renewable energy, to serve economic growth and its target to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.

My Son-Hoan Loc Viet solar power plant reached commercial operation in June 2019. It is expected to achieve an annual output of 78 million kWh in 2024, Shizuoka Gas said.

The VND1,431 billion ($56.6 million) power plant transmits its generated electricity via an eight-kilometer privately-operated power line, according to the Japanese firm.
