Justice Minister Le Thanh Long appointed Deputy Prime Minister
The National Assembly, Vietnam’s highest legislative body, on Thursday approved Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's proposal to appoint Minister of Justice Le Thanh Long as Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term.
He received 468 “yes” votes from 469 participating parliamentary delegates.

Le Thanh Long, 61, comes from Sam Son town, Thanh Hoa province. He has a doctor’s degree in law.
Long is a Party Central Committee member for the 12th and 13th tenures and a National Assembly member for the 14th and 15th terms.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in law from Azerbaijan International University (former Soviet Union), Long started his career at the department of international cooperation under the Ministry of Justice.
He went on to hold different positions at the ministry, including secretary to the minister, director of the department of general affairs on law development, and Deputy Minister of Justice.
From March 2014 to October 2015, he worked as deputy chief of Ha Tinh province’s Party Committee. In April 2016, he was appointed Minister of Justice.
The 2021-2026 government currently has four Deputy Prime Ministers assisting Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh: Le Minh Khai, Tran Luu Quang, Tran Hong Ha, and Le Thanh Long.
