Kien Giang province chairman reprimanded
Lam Minh Thanh, deputy chief of Kien Giang's Party Committee and chairman of the southern province's People's Committee, has been reprimanded by the Central Inspection Committee.
The committee found that Thanh had violated working regulations, lacked responsibility, and showed loose leadership and direction. As a result, a number of organizations and individuals violated Party regulations and State laws in personnel issues, and procurement, management and use of biological products, chemicals, and medical equipment during the fight against Covid-19.
The Central Inspection Committee also requested Kien Giang's Party leaders to discipline those responsible.
Lam Minh Thanh, 51, holds a bachelor's degree in laws. He has been chairman of the Kien Giang People's Committee since November 2020. Previously, he was chief of Phu Quoc district's Party Committee and vice chairman of Kien Giang province.
Also on Thursday, the committee concluded that Thanh Hoa province's Party leaders had violated the principles of democratic centralism and working regulations; lacked responsibility; showed loose leadership and direction; and lacked inspection and supervision. As a result, many organizations and individuals had seriously violated Party regulations and State laws.
These violations occurred in policy approval, planning, planning adjustments, land allocation, issuance of certificates of land use rights, calculation of land use fees, and allocation of state budget related to projects including those implemented by FLC Group and AIC Group.
Some cadres and Party members had declared personal assets "dishonesly", violating the Law on Anti-corruption, regulations on the Party members' code of conduct, and rules on the responsibility to set a good example as a leader. Some cadres and Party members have been disciplined and penalized.
Among the individuals jointly responsible were: Mai Van Ninh, former Party Central Committee member, former chief of Thanh Hoa's Party Committee, and former chairman of the central province's People's Council; and Trinh Van Chien, former Party Central Committee member, former chief of the provincial Party Committee, former chairman of the provincial People's Council, and former chairman of the provincial People's Committee;
"The violations caused very serious consequences, great losses to the state budget and property, and negative public opinion, affecting the reputation of Party organizations and local governments to the point that disciplinary measures had to be taken," the commission stated.
