Korea environmental firm Techcross eyes wastewater treatment projects in Hanoi
South Korea’s Techcross Water & Energy (TWE) is looking to build wastewater treatment projects in Hanoi and has urged Vietnam's capital city to recommend suitable projects for future cooperation.
TWE CEO Kim Jung Chul delivered the proposal at a Wednesday meeting with Hanoi Vice Chairman Nguyen Manh Quyen. The executive highlighted TWE’s experience at the wastewater treatment unit of LG Display's factory in the northern city of Hai Phong and the Bac Saigon 2 wastewater treatment factory under the public-private partnership (PPP) format in Ho Chi Minh City.

Emphasizing high demand for environmental protection in Hanoi amid the city’s pacey economic growth, the executive called on municipal authorities to facilitate its projects in the city.
For his part, Nguyen Manh Quyen affirmed wastewater treatment is a priority for Hanoi as the current facility can only fulfill 30% of the demand. He asked Hanoi’s Department of Construction to work as the coordinator between the municipality and TWE.
A day earlier, TWE and the Vietnam's Association of Foreign Invested Enterprises (VAFIE) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the two sides for upcoming environmental PPP projects in Hanoi.

Accordingly, the VAFIE will support and provide TWE with information related to upcoming projects in Hanoi and its vicinity and collaborate with TWE to work with relevant state agencies in order to facilitate participation in project implementation.
