Korean firm builds $80 mln offshore tower factory in southern Vietnam
CS Wind Vietnam, a unit of South Korea’s CS Wind Corporation, conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for its offshore wind tower factory in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province on Tuesday.

The $80 million project, covering 240,000 square meters, is part of the firm’s move to switch their production from land-based to offshore wind towers, according to South Korea’s Aju Business Daily.
Construction is set to complete in February next year so the factory, located in the Phu My Industrial Park, can enter operation in April 2024, producing 120,000 tons of products a year.
CS Wind entered Vietnam in 2003 with its first factory in the southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. The firm provides 13,000 wind towers a year to global partners. The Vietnam plant has been the core of CS Wind that reaches Asian, South Pacific, and U.S. markets.
Last month, CS Wind chairman Seong-Gon Gim met with the authorities of Khanh Hoa to discuss investment of about $120 million in building a 32-hectare wind tower and monopile factory in the central coastal province.
Khanh Hoa Chairman Nguyen Tan Tuan then vowed to facilitate the firm’s investment, eyeing approval in April.
