Long An province takes a swing at golf tourism as provincial brand
Long An province in the Mekong Delta is focusing on implementing large-scale investment projects in sport tourism, with a view to turning golf tourism into a provincial brand, said a provincial leader.
To meet the golfing demand, many courses have been built, two of which are West Lake and Royal Long An.

Speaking at the Sunday opening ceremony of the Royal Long An Golf & Villas project, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Pham Tan Hoa said that Long An aims to build golf courses into high-class tourist, sports and entertainment areas, contributing to attracting more international and domestic tourists to the province.
“The provincial People's Committee will create favorable conditions for the project's completion according to the approved plan, making it a leading international-class destination while contributing to the local economy and developing golf tourism into a brand in Long An,” he said.
Invested by Vietnam Royal Investment Group, the project is designed to have 27 international-standard holes covering an area of nearly 3,000 square meters and 32 luxury villas, said the group’s CEO Tran Ngoc Nhat.
Ready to serve the experiences of golfers, it is an ideal destination for luxury sports, entertainment, and relaxation in the southern region, he noted.
During a trial period from the beginning of this year to November 11, the course welcomed more than 14,000 visitors and successfully organized domestic and international tournaments. This shows its potential to attract tourists to the locality, Nhat added.
Another famous name in Long An is West Lakes Golf & Villas, invested by C.S.Q International Investment Joint Stock Company and developed by Tran Anh Group. It is located on provincial road 822 in Tan My commune, Duc Hoa district, 41 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the General Statistics Office, Vietnam now has 80 18-hole golf courses in operation. The figure is expected to increase to 200 by 2025.
Pham Thanh Tri, vice chairman of Vietnam Golf Tourism Association, assessed that Vietnam's golf tourism industry is currently experiencing impressive development. In 2023, Vietnam is hoping to welcome 3 million golf tourists, earning about $5 billion in revenue.
