LS-VINA, the Vietnamese operation of South Korea's LS Eco Energy Ltd., has completed the supply of approximately 2,000 kilometers of overhead power lines to state utility Vietnam Electricity (EVN).

These overhead cables will be integrated into the nation’s main power grid, which spans around 600 kilometers and connects northern and central Vietnam, according to the company.

EVN is currently constructing a new 500 kV transmission line to transfer electricity from the central region to the north, which is home to major manufacturing facilities of multinational companies such as Samsung, LG, Amkor, and Foxconn.

Last year, the northern region experienced severe power shortages for about a month during the peak of the dry season. In response, the government has expedited the transmission line project to mitigate these shortages.

LS Eco Energy, established in 1996 by LS Cable & System to enter the Vietnamese market, operates production facilities at LS-Vina in Hanoi and LSCV in Ho Chi Minh City. Their product range includes power cables, wire materials, and telecommunication cables.

According to market research company Rystad Energy, Vietnam is forecast to add approximately 15,000 kilometers of transmission lines across the country by 2030, with nearly half of them expected to be high-voltage 500 kV cables.
