Many Vietnamese high-quality goods producers incorporate environmental indicators into business plans
Of the 562 manufacturers of high-quality Vietnamese goods in 2025, more than one-third stated that they will base their business plans on environmental and social metrics.
Nguyen Van Phuong, who oversaw a survey for the High Quality Vietnamese Products 2025 awards, highlighted the finding at a press meeting announcing the certified companies on Tuesday in Ho Chi Minh City. The survey was conducted by the Business Association of High Quality Vietnamese Products.
The 562 companies contributed nearly VND168 trillion ($6.58 billion) to the national budget in 2024, or about 8.4% of total state budget revenue. They have created jobs for 246,773 full-time workers and 10,135 part-time workers.
The survey results on the level of implementation of green production practices show that a significant number of High Quality Vietnamese Products 2025 companies have adopted these practices regularly.

"Most businesses are not just focused on improving production efficiency but also committed to a long-term strategy for green growth and sustainable development.
"In particular, more than one-third of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods 2025 businesses said they will develop production and business plans based on environmental and social indicators, which are key to achieving green growth and sustainability," said Phuong.
Vu Kim Hanh, president of the Business Association of High Quality Vietnamese Products, highlighted a new finding in this year’s survey: “About 20 provinces and cities praised businesses for implementing strong legal and environmental policies. This shows that businesses are becoming increasingly serious about adhering to state regulations.”
She also emphasized the need for long-standing businesses to quickly adapt to changes in consumer behavior amid the current volatile geopolitical and economic landscape.
"Additionally, many businesses need to adopt AI for marketing, sales, and production. Those that already have a market cannot afford to lose it due to being slow to adopt AI," she added.
According to the survey results, consumers continue to "tighten their belts," and the level of shopping at the end of 2024 decreased compared to the same point of time in 2023. Data from consumers show that shopping and consumption levels in 2025 have not shown any positive signs compared to 2024.
"Consumers are still sticking to a strategy of cost-cutting, focusing on essential products, opting for cheaper items, or purchasing products on sale," Hanh explained.
Another key point is that consumers increasingly favor multi-channel shopping. Many online retailers are now opening offline stores to provide customers with the opportunity to experience products in person.
The survey, which began in September 2024, focused on both consumers and retailers and included an annual online survey alongside direct interviews. More than 19,000 consumers and 3,000 retail outlets nationwide participated in two survey formats: direct and online. The results recorded more than 121,000 votes for businesses.
The direct survey took place in four key cities: Hanoi, Danang, HCMC, and Can Tho, while the online survey was conducted nationwide, with participation from consumers across all 63 provinces and cities.
