Tokyo-based Mitsui E&S Co. has received an order from Petrovietnam Phuoc An Port Investment & Operation JSC (PAP), an upcoming port's operator funded by the Vietnamese government, for 21 container cranes.

The package includes five units of Ship to Shore Gantry Cranes Mitsui-Paceco Portainer and 16 environmentally-friendly Electric Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (Mitsui-Paceco Transtainer), the firm said in a statement.

Phuoc An port is being developed by PAP as the first container terminal in Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai province which is a manufacturing hub in southern Vietnam.

The port spans a total area of 183 hectares, with six container berths and four general cargo berths. It is designed to handle vessels of up to 60,000 DWT and has a capacity of 2.5 million TEUs/year and 6.5 million tons/year for general cargo.

Located between Ho Chi Minh City – the country’s largest economic hub and the new Long Thanh International Airport, scheduled to open in 2025, the port is expected to become one of the largest logistics hubs in Vietnam.

Together with four units of Mitsui-Paceco Portainer and nine units of Mitsui-Paceco Transtainer scheduled for handover in September 2024, its delivery record for Phuoc An port now reached nine units of Mitsui-Paceco Portainer and 25 units of Mitsui-Paceco Transtainer.

Mitsui E&S Co. has delivered 26 units of Mitsui-Paceco Portainer and 132 units of Mitsui-Paceco Transtainer in the last 10 years, the largest share of Vietnamese market.

In October last year, the Japanese firm received an order from Port of Hai Phong JSC for six Ship-to-Shore Gantry Cranes and 24 Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) Cranes. The port operator is constructing the container terminal in Lach Huyen area in the northern port city of Hai Phong.
