National Citizen Bank elects two new board members

Vietnam's National Citizen Bank (NCB) on Saturday appointed two new board members for the 2020-2025 tenure.

The new members of the board of directors elected at the Vietnamese bank's extraordinary general shareholder meeting are Duong The Bang and Nguyen Thi Hai Hoa.

Bang holds a bachelor's degree from Russia's Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics. He boasts more than 20 years of working at large-scale enterprises in various fields as a board member and CEO.

Hoa has a bachelor's degree in economics from Hanoi-based Foreign Trade University. She used to work at state-run BIDV bank and held important positions in finance and credit at large domestic enterprises.

The shareholder meeting also approved the resignations of vice board chairman Nguyen Tien Dung and board member Truong Le Hien for health problems and personal plans, respectively.

The board also appointed deputy CEO Hoang Thu Trang as its vice chairwoman from Saturday.

The board now has five members, namely Bui Thi Thanh Huong, Hoang Thu Trang, Trinh Thanh Mai, Duong The Bang, and Nguyen Thi Hai Hoa.

In the third quarter 2023, NCB, listed on the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) as NVB, recorded a decrease of VND47 billion ($1.94 million) in after-tax profit compared to the same period last year.

In the first nine months, the private lender posted more than VND151 billion ($6.22 million) in profit from securities investments and VND167 billion ($6.88 million) from foreign currency trading.

As of September 30, total assets at NCB had reached VND91.6 trillion ($3.77 billion), up 2% compared to the beginning of the year. Of which, loans were valued at more than VND51.1 trillion ($2.1 billion), up VND3.39 trillion from December 31, 2022.

NVB closed Friday at VND10,800 ($0.45) per share.
