Dong Nai province authorities on Sunday approved an investment of VND2.6 trillion ($109 million) in a sub-project of Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3 project that runs through the locality.

This is one of eight component projects of the route, connecting with the sub-project 1A's Tan Van-Nhon Trach section, which kicked off in September 2022.

The Ring Road 3’s Dong Nai section has a length of more than 11.2 kilometers, starting in Vinh Thanh commune, Nhon Trach district and ending at Nhon Trach Bridge connecting with HCMC’s Thu Duc city.

The sub-project will build a five-kilometer expressway linking with the sub-project 1A’s Tan Van-Nhon Trach section at the intersection with provincial Road 25B. The eight-lane expressway will allow a speed of 100 kph.

There will be roads along both sides of the expressway, each with a length of 11.2 kilometers, including two bridges over the Rach Chay River. When completed, the 74.5-kilometer-wide roads will enable vehicles to run at a speed of 60 kph.

The sub-project will build an intersection with Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway and another with provincial Road 25C. It is expected to be completed in 2026.

Ring Road 3 will run 76.3 kilometers through HCMC and the provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Long An. It is expected to cost VND75.4 trillion ($3.2 billion) in all.

Once operational, it will create a major breakthrough in traffic connection, thus promoting the southeastern region's socio-economic development.
