It is the first project to be given the green light by local authorities in 2023, said the provincial economic zone management board on Friday.

Covering an area of almost 8.6 hectares in the expanded Lao Bao Special Economic-Commercial Zone in Huong Hoa district, the depot is expected to become operational in the first quarter of 2026, with a capacity of 50,000-150,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit) a year.

The project will invest in warehouses and yards, technical infrastructure, equipment serving cargo loading and unloading, warehouse storage, and support services related to transportation and customs clearance.

Since its inauguration in October 2010, VSICO has strived to develop and renovate its fleet, which now includes bulk carriers and container ships operating on domestic and international routes.

The company mainly engages in sea, road and rail transportation. It also involves leasing and trading of charter vessels and related services through its subsidiaries and branches.

VSICO is a member of reputable associations in the logistics industry like the Vietnam Association for Logistics Manpower Development (Valoma), the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), and the Vietnam Shipowners’ Association (VSA).
