Ha Nam province authorities have called on VSIP, the developer of Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) facilities, to study and build a high-tech park.

Le Thu Thuy, Party chief of the northern province, made the statement at a Monday meeting with a Singaporean delegation including VSIP representatives.

The project, named Ha Nam High-Tech Park, was approved by Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son in December 2024.

The 663.2-hectare facility is the fifth of such a kind in Vietnam, after those in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Danang city, and Dong Nai province.

Ha Nam Chairman Truong Quoc Huy noted that the Ha Nam High-Tech Park is set to prioritize sectors of artificial intelligence, electronics, semiconductors, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and new materials.

He mentioned advantages of the project, including proximity to Hanoi-Hai Phong Expressway, easy access to nearby airports, and the availability of two centrally-run hospitals Bach Mai and Viet Duc in the province.

Ha Nam now has 12 available industrial parks of 3,458 hectares. The province has attracted $6.6 billion in registered FDI, including $345 million from Singaporean investors, local official data shows.

At the meeting, a VSIP representative said the firm would study Ha Nam High-Tech Park as the facility is in line with its development path.

Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) is a joint venture between Vietnam’s Becamex IDC and Singapore’s Sembcorp Development Group. The first VSIP was established in 1996. The joint venture now operates 18 VSIP facilities in 13 localities across Vietnam. Several more were planned in the country.
