Over 40 million Vietnamese people granted Covid-19 vaccine passports
More than 40 million Vietnamese people held Covid-19 vaccine passports as of July 20, according to the Ministry of Health.
Covid-19 vaccine passports have been issued since April this year, but the progress is slow, according the ministry's electronic health administration.
The main reason is incorrect information, particularly that declared during the time the fourth Covid-19 resurgence ravaged the country last year, it explained.
The ministry has asked technology giant Viettel to help the Ministry of Public Security verify all inconsistent information this month. It has also asked local administrations to accelerate the granting of Covid-19 vaccine passports.
Vietnam reported 1,161 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday and no related deaths. Over 240.4 million Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered nationwide so far. The country has a population of about 100 million people.
Vietnam lifted health declaration requirements on April 27 and dropped its Covid-19 testing requirement for people entering the country on May 15.
