PV Gas supplies rail-transported LNG to first customer in northern Vietnam
Vietnam CNG JSC (PV Gas CNG), a subsidiary of PV Gas, has completed the delivery of liquefied natural gas (LNG) transported by rail from the south to its first customer in northern Vietnam.
The delivery was made to the Catalan brick plant in Dong Tho commune, Yen Phong district, Bac Ninh province.
The first use of LNG in the country's northern region was made possible by PV Gas’s successful transport of LNG from the south to the north by rail, implementing the company's core strategy of integrating energy products nationwide, said a company release.
As the primary LNG retailer across the country, PV Gas CNG has demonstrated significant advancement in the fuel’s supply chain, underscoring its commitment to providing comprehensive clean energy solutions and contributing to the development of a green industry in Vietnam, it added.
Catalan JSC is a leading ceramic tile manufacturer in Vietnam that has established a strong position in the building materials industry, particularly in high-quality ceramic tile production, over nearly two decades.
Its products are available in all provinces and cities across Vietnam and are exported to the U.K., Germany, Australia, Taiwan, the UAE and several Middle Eastern countries.
To ensure safe and effective use of LNG by the brick plant, PV Gas CNG has paid special attention to the LNG station at the site.
“The station meets the highest technical standards, with modern infrastructure to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted process for receiving, storing and converting LNG for production,” the release said.
The company noted it has invested in large-capacity LNG storage tanks combined with re-gasification equipment and advanced safety control systems. The installation of the LNG station was carried out by experienced engineers and experts, strictly adhering to safety and environmental protection regulations, it added.
The use of LNG will not only help Catalan enhance production efficiency, particularly for its high-quality ceramic tiles, but also enable it to optimize costs and ensure operational safety.
LNG use will help the company reduce CO2 emissions, aligning its operations with the net-zero goal pledged by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at COP26 in Glasgow in 2021.
The fuel shift will also be a key factor in helping Catalan enter demanding global markets.
The delivery to its first customer marks the successful beginning of PV Gas's LNG supply plan for the northern market, with plans to expand its customer base in the final months of 2024. This will further strengthen the company’s LNG supply chain and complete the national energy map.
The company said the successful delivery and installation of the LNG station was also a reaffirmation of its commitment to lead the nation’s competitive energy market in general and the gas industry in particular, promoting overall development of clean and sustainable energy sources.
