Quang Tri seeks designated seaport to drive major developments
Authorities in Quang Tri province have proposed adding the specialized Trieu Lang seaport to Vietnam's 2021-2030 port system plan, with a vision to 2050, to facilitate two major projects.

In particular, Vina Roma Quang Tri Steel JSC was approved to study an iron and steel complex project, with an investment of VND47,817 billion ($2.04 billion). The complex, covering 463.5 hectares in Trieu Phong district, has a design capacity of 4.5 million tons of steel annually.
Tan Viet Bac Quang Tri Port JSC has proposed studying the specialized Trieu Lang port project. The VND6,000 billion ($256.4 million) project, covering 746 hectares, will feature three berths and welcome ships weighing between 3,000 and 200,000 tons.
Backing the proposal, Quang Tri's Chairman Vo Van Hung said Trieu Lang seaport investments are necessary to facilitate the operation of the Vina Roma iron and steel complex.
Quang Tri is collecting opinions on its draft provincial planning for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. Notably, the breakthrough sector is electricity.
